LUS - Luxembourg University Student Organisation

The LUS is the umbrella student organisation of the University. Each of the faculty organisations sends, either by appointment or through internal election, one or more representatives to the administrative council of the LUS. Nine students at most will be vested with decision-making powers concerning the entire community of students at the University of Luxembourg. The 9 councillors will also see to the proper communication and cooperation between students, the rectorate and the governing board. Finally, the LUS ensures close cooperation between the different faculty organisations.

During meetings of student representatives from the former student organisations of the IST, the ISERP as well as the representation of students from the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, it was agreed to have students represented at faculty level.

The “Faculty” organisations deal with all problems relating to their Faculty (such as the organisation of student and cultural events, the consolidation of close links with students, administrative and teaching staff). At faculty level, the organisations may act independently and autonomously. Every year, a dozen students selected among the students of the faculty, are elected democratically as a councillor of the faculty organisation.
