Welcome to the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF)

The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (Faculté de droit, d’economie et de finance - FDEF) at the University of Luxembourg (UL) offers a unique academic and research environment. The proximity of several European institutions, a vibrant international financial sector and the presence of innovative industries form natural allies for the FDEF. These are elaborated through sponsoring of Chairs, privileged partnerships but also by professionals teaching select courses at the Faculty’s academic programmes. The academic programmes are usually bilingual (French and English), although a number of Master programmes are taught entirely in English.

51 professors coming from 17 different countries teach in our programmes, whereas the total number of students represents more than 40% of the UL student body and 85 different nationalities. The international profile of the Faculty is complemented by the extensive network of partnerships with over 25 leading universities around the world.

The Faculty is an evolution from the departments of law and economics of the former University Centre, the predecessor to the University of Luxembourg. The Gabriel Lippmann Public Research Centre and the Luxembourg School of Finance merged to become today’s Research Units of the Faculty: the Research Unit in Law (RUL), the Centre for Research in Economics and Management (CREA) and the Luxembourg School of Finance (LSF).

We have 2 Doctoral Schools and offer 8 Master degrees, 3 Bachelor degrees and 3 professional programmes. (+ Info)
