Born in 1984 in Athens (Greece), Andreas Loukakis is since December 2015 Assistant and Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance at the University of Luxembourg. Currently, he is conducting Post-Doctoral research under the framework of the SES Chair in Satellite Communications and Media Law, Professor Mahulena Hofmann. Andreas defended his doctoral thesis on liability issues arising from Galileo, the EU’s initiative in the field of satellite navigation in November 2015 (Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, University of Luxembourg).Prior to his doctoral and post-doctoral training, Andreas received an LL.M degree in European Law from the University of Maastricht (the Netherlands) in April 2011, and a Law degree from Democritus University of Thrace (Greece) in December 2007. Since June 2009, Andreas Loukakis has been appointed as a full member of the Athens Bar Association. Before that, he gathered his practical experience as a trainee lawyer in law offices in Greece. Additionally, from March 2011 until August 2011, he was a Robert Schuman scholar in the legal service of the European Parliament in Brussels. Apart from conducting research, Andreas is also teaching certain number of courses for the bachelor program as well as some master programs at the University of Luxembourg. Moreover, he is the faculty advisor together with Professor Mahulena Hofmann of the Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition organized by the International Institute of Space Law.

    Tasks: Research on liability issues connected to space activities but also on new developments such as the legal framework of space mining activities
