FNR SECOM - E-fficient
E-business Framework For an effIcient Capture and Implementation of ENd-to-end Transactions
The E-fficient project aims at developing methods, techniques and tools to better understand e-commerce transactions, both from a business and from a more technical perspective. It can be divided in three basic layers:
- The business layer is the layer where the need for a e-commerce transaction is identified. This need arises from a business opportunity where the settlement of new e-commerce transaction brings some economic added-value for an organization. In E-fficient, it is planned to develop a simulation tool that will help in the understanding of the additional economic value associated with the introduction of a new transaction. This part of the project is specifically devoted to SMEs.
- The specification layer is the layer where an analysis is made for the required e-commerce transaction. Formal specifications are the product of this stage, they describe the transactions and its associated messages. In order to validate the specifications, E-fficient is developing a so-called "animator" which can be used by the end users for verifying the correctness of the transaction.
- The implementation layer is concerned with technical implementation details. It is not, as stated in the research contract, in the scope of the project. Some of these technical details are part of the animator tool developed at the specification layer and could be packaged in terms of components that could be plugged into the code of applications. As recommended by FNR , this last issue will be considered under separate projects (like "projet conventionné").
