State financial aid: what is it? |

It is a financial contribution that the Luxembourg State gives to students who take higher or university education (amended law of 22 June 2000). The financial aid can consist of two parts:
Repayment conditions: the student must start repayment two years after his/her studies have finished or stopped. From then onwards, the loan must be repaid within 10 years or 5 years for students who are over 35 years old. Attention: The 2% interest payable by the student is normally debited twice per year by the bank. |

Who can benefit from the financial aid? |

All students registered in a course of post-secondary, higher or university studies and who comply with the following conditions of nationality:

What must you do to obtain the financial aid? |
|
|

It is also possible to send a written application (by post, fax, email or hand over) to CEDIES, 211, route d'Esch, L-1471 Luxembourg , Fax: 45 56 56 EMail: cedies@mcesr.etat.lu , and to send back the written questionnaire completed and supplemented by the required documents to the same address, meeting the deadlines for this. |

What are the deadlines to be met? |
|

A new questionnaire must be completed for each academic year.
Students with half-yearly registrations and who have obtained financial aid for the winter semester, must either
The registration certificate relating to the summer semester must be sent to the CEDIES as soon as possible and no later than 31 July. For new registrations for the SUMMER semester

How is the financial aid calculated? |
|
|
The distribution of the financial aid varies depending on the financial situation of the household to which the student belongs:

|

The incentive bonuses: what are they? |
|
|
The Luxembourg State pays a bonus to each student who has filed an application with the CEDIES and who has successfully finished a course of higher or university studies within the official time frames allowed. |

|
Who can benefit from incentive bonuses? |
|
|
All students who meet the conditions of the amended law of 22 June 2000 and of the amended Grand Duchy regulation of 5 October 2000 and who have finished a course of higher or university studies within the official time frames allowed by the curriculum. Dispensation is allowed for first and second year studies for which the student can exceed the officially allowed deadline by a year. |

What are the deadlines to be used? |
|
|
The incentive bonus must be applied for no later than one year after successfully completing the diploma marking the completion of the course of studies. |

How much are the incentive bonuses? |
|
|
Attention: Pursuant to article 7 of the Grand Duchy regulation of 5 October 2000 regarding State financial aid for higher studies, the incentive bonuses for graduate and postgraduate studies must be paid on the student's loan account. |
