Cost of living
The people of Luxembourg enjoy a high standard of living, which means that the cost of living is quite high. Rents are high too, but prices for consumer goods are comparable to those of other large European cities.
By way of comparison, here is a summary ranking of the cost of living in 150 cities throughout the world. The calculations were based on an index of 100 for New York.
- Paris has an index of 97.9,
- Brussels 85.3,
- Geneva 107.5
- Luxembourg ranks 47th with an index of 87.1.
