Master en droit européen - LL.M. (académique)
PARTICIPATION IN AN EXTERNAL MOOT COURT COMPETITION
The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxemburg invites and encourages the students of all Master programs to participate in an international Moot Court competition. The participation in such a Moot Court competition forms an
obligatory part
of the second year programme in the track of
General European Law
for full time-students
.
In addition, the participation in one of the offered competitions is also opened to the students of all other Master programmes (both in first and second year) and the participation is credited by compensation of other courses on agreement with the responsible course director
Attending an international Moot Court competition is a great opportunity to develop not only deepened knowledge in the respective field of law, but also the skills needed in an occupational career such as personal and rhetorical skills and, in particular, team work abilities. The participation in a Moot Court competition is thus highly appreciated in professional environments and strongly recommended for the legal career.
Students willing to take part in a Moot Court need to be aware that the participation in such an external competition is highly time-consuming and requires intensive work. However, the commitment will pay off by a unique experience to be gained during the competition as previous success of uni.lu-teams .
The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxemburg usually offers participation in the following Moot Court competitions:
1. European Law Moot Court Competition [ELMC] ,
2. Concours Européen des Droits de l’Homme René Cassin [Concours Cassin] ,
3. Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition [Jessup] ,
4. ELSA Moot Court Competition [EMC²] ,
5. Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot [VIS] ,
6. Frankfurt Investment Arbitration Moot Court [FIAMC] .
For further information such as admission, selection and assessment [ECTS value] within the Master program, please, see the “Official rules for participation in an external Moot Court Competition”.
For all students who consider participating in an external Moot Court competition, the University of Luxembourg launched an additional course in the second semester of the first year of the Masters Programme: the Moot Court Preparation Course . This course is addressed to the students who want to develop and train the required skills in advance of the actual Moot Court competition in the following year.
