Doctoral schoolsOur doctoral schools offer custom-made training programmes for Ph.D. candidates to help them:
Training takes place in small groups of Ph.D. candidates, focussing on their specific research topic. A positive side effect of the doctoral schools will be the regular exchange and support among candidates. In addition, the candidates will continue to be individually supervised as before. The concept of our Doctoral Education is in line with the „Salzburg II principles” (www.eua.be/.../Salzburg_II_Recommendations.sflb.ashx ), a set of European recommendations for Doctoral Programmes, and recommendations by the European University Association (EUA) ( http://www.eua.be/Home.aspx ). The overall objective is to improve the research performance of doctoral candidates and thus make doctoral education more efficient, effective and satisfactory. This objective is supported by first EUA-Studies indicating that structured doctoral education increases motivation of Ph.D. candidates, leads to higher productivity, increases possibilities for funding and increases the depths of the individual research.
