September 2001 – December 2005: PhD at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. PhD examination passed on the 8th December 2005. PhD awarded at Level 1.
Thesis title: An investigation into lay knowledge and perception of linguistic norms in modern German on the basis of an empirical sociolinguistic study in a particular dialect area. (part of the AHRB-funded project on ‘Bad language’).
October 2000 – September 2001: MA in Language Studies. Dissertation title: Multilingual Literacies in Luxembourg

Administrative Experience
- Course convenor for first year beginners’ German and for second year German Language at Aberystwyth
- German section representative at the Staff Student Consultative Committee (SSCC).
- Member of the learning and teaching committee. This committee discusses and reflects on teaching and assessment procedures across the languages.
- I am also involved in the department’s undergraduate admissions process, particularly in the Interviewing prospective students at departmental open days
- I have represented the department at school conferences
