Aims

According to the second four-year plan of the University of Luxembourg (2010-2013) “the FLSHASE has as its primary aim, in the areas of both research and education, to analyse and accompany the development of society with a scientific contribution of an interdisciplinary, trans-national, comparative and future-oriented nature . Luxembourg’s society, strongly marked by phenomena of opening, transfers, adaptation and multidimensionality - phenomena that are recognised, accepted, but sometimes also contested - constitutes an extremely rich and interesting research object not only for the international scientific community but society in general. The ties, the mutual influences and the possible tensions between the different socio-cultural groups within Luxembourg’s society, between local and national developments on the one hand and the European and even global evolutions on the other, expressed with the notions of ‘social cohesion’ and ‘glocalisation’, lend themselves in this type of open society to being a major subject of study, with a significance for years to come.”

It is this goal the research programme “Luxembourg Studies” seeks to attain. Any project that aims to analyse and explain a specific aspect of Luxembourg’s society is therefore eligible for the title “Luxembourg Studies”. For practical reasons the programme can currently only consider projects carried out by the individual laboratories of the IPSE Research Unit or – preferably – working with an an interdisciplinary approach. Projects labelled “Luxembourg Studies” will always place their subject of research in a transnational context using a comparative approach.

Currently, the programme is subdivided into four areas of research.

11. Mai 2012 - Präsentation im Rahmen des Forschungsprogramms "Luxemburg-Studien"

Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung stellten Professoren und wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiter der Forschungseinheit IPSE der Öffentlichkeit ihre Aktivitäten vor: Auf dem Programm standen rund ein Dutzend Minipräsentationen von Forschungsprojekten im Fünf-Minuten-Takt. Interessierte Bürger konnten sich so einen Überblick über aktuelle Forschungsprojekte  verschaffen. Dazu zählte zum Beispiel auch eine Online-Datenbank, auf der Sprachforscher die Herkunft von Sprüchen à la « Da gët et Mokes op de Dokes », den so genannten Phraseologien, erklären.  Mehrere Projekte untersuchten zudem, wie Luxemburg zur Nation wurde und in der Bevölkerung ein Bewusstsein für nationale Identität entstand. Die Veranstaltung, die im Rahmen des Forschungsprogramms "Luxemburg-Studien" stattfand, stieß auf eine äußerst positive Resonanz und soll kontinuierlich fortgeführt werden.  Mehr Informationen

Buchreihe "Luxemburg-Studien/ Etudes luxembourgeoises" erschienen

In der Buchreihe „Luxemburg-Studien / Etudes luxembourgeoises“ werden geistes- und sozialwissenschaftliche Forschungsarbeiten veröffentlicht, die einen thematischen Bezug zur luxemburgischen Kultur und Gesellschaft haben. Mit der Buchreihe sollen die Forschungsergebnisse in der Luxemburger Gesellschaft und im nationalen sowie internationalen akademischen Umfeld bekannt gemacht werden. Die vorab begutachteten und publizierten Forschungsarbeiten sind interdisziplinär ausgerichtet und decken ein breites Themenspektrum ab: luxemburgische Geschichte, Sprachen, Literaturen, Politik, Geographie, Raumplanung sowie Soziologie. Die publizierten Forschungsarbeiten mit Luxemburg-Bezug können an der Universität Luxemburg oder an ausländischen Universitäten entstanden sein.

Herausgegeben wird die Buchreihe „Luxemburg-Studien / Etudes luxembourgeoises“ von Prof. Dr. Peter Gilles , Prof. Dr. Markus Hesse , Prof. Dr. Michel Pauly und Prof. Dr. Christian Schulz (Forschungseinheit IPSE innerhalb der Fakultät für Sprachwissenschaften und Literatur, Geisteswissenschaften, Kunst und Erziehungswissenschaften). Sie erscheint im internationalen Wissenschaftsverlag Peter Lang.
