Main fields of interest and teaching are sociology, interculturality, systemic approaches and violence and neglect in society. Recent research projects and interests focus questions of intersectionality and precarious situations both in individual life and for processes of social inclusion. Actually she is also involved in a study on the demands and qualifications in the social sector in Luxembourg. In the last decade (since 1993) Peters researched mainly in the field of sustainable development, first at the University of Trier (1993-1997), later at the Stiftung Bauhaus in Dessau (1999-2001), where she participated in a national research collaboration on the social dimensions of sustainability. Peters studied sociology and economy at the University of Trier and holds a PhD from the University of Wuppertal (1991). The doctoral dissertation, “Ökonomie als Gewaltverhältnis”, centers on the violence of the economic system which remained ever since a topic of publications.
