Ute Karl is Associate Professor of Social Work/Intervention Sociale.
She graduated in Educational Sciences at the University of Tübingen/Germany with a specialization in social pedagogy and adult education and obtained her Dr. phil. from the University of Hamburg in 2005. Her doctoral thesis was a study on processes of transformative learning (Bildungsprozesse) of older persons acting in theatre acting groups. Between 2005 and 2011 she was researcher and lecturer at the University of Hildesheim/Germany. Between 2008 and 2011 she conducted two consecutive research projects funded by the German Research Association (DFG) about counselling interactions in German Jobcentres and in governmental career guidance. In these projects she also analysed the relevance of gender in these conversations. She is also involved in the international network “Transition – Education– Beschäftigung”.
