Analyse des données du recensement de la population (de 2011) : multilinguisme et emploi au Luxembourg
Descriptif: Les objectifs de ce projet sont multiples. Il s’agira d’une part, d’analyser le multilinguisme au Luxembourg à partir des résultats du recensement de la population. Le recensement a en effet intégré pour la première fois en 2011 des questions relatives aux langues, qu’il s’agisse de la langue la mieux connue ou des pratiques linguistiques (à la maison, au travail/à l’école). Cette étude apportera des éléments de compréhension par rapport à l’intégration linguistique de la population étrangère au Luxembourg, et la segmentation linguistique en fonction des secteurs d’activité.
Par ailleurs, les caractéristiques de la population ayant un emploi seront détaillées afin de mieux comprendre l’organisation de l’emploi et la pluralité des marchés du travail. L’emploi au Luxembourg est en effet particulier compte tenu de sa dépendance à la main-d’œuvre étrangère, qu’elle soit résidente ou frontalière. L’éclairage apporté sur les niveaux de qualification et les professions des actifs résidents est primordial pour comprendre les besoins du marché de l’emploi. Le recensement de la population n’apportera certes aucune information sur les travailleurs frontaliers (qui constituent 44% des salariés au Luxembourg), mais sur l’immigration qualifiée (et notamment les fonctionnaires européens) assez peu connue.
Enfin les données communales permettront de percevoir les évolutions en marche au Luxembourg quant aux caractéristiques des populations et à l’aménagement et au développement territorial.

SUSTAINLUX
Against the backdrop of the recent economic and demographic development dynamics and the strong pressure on land resources and provision of infrastructure, the study of sustainable development in Luxembourg is an evaluation of existing planning policy instruments and governance patterns with respect to urban and regional social spatial transformation in the Grand Duchy in general, and of housing policy and transport in particular. Rather than examining sets of indicators or inquiring how to best fill the sustainability gap, this project intends to illuminate problems and conceptual issues concerning urban regions and urban space, and to take a critical look behind governance, and normative orientations in policy making such as sustainable development.
This research is generously supported by the CORE program of the Fonds National de la Researche Luxembourg, and was conceived in cooperation with the Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung, in Leipzig. The project also collaborates with both the Conseil Supérieur pour un Développement Durable (CSDD) as well as the Conseil Supérieur de l’Aménagement du Territoire (CSAT), who signalled their strong interest and offered practical support. The project will be carried out over a duration of three years (2010-2013).

ESPON Database and Data Development
At the European level several initiatives have been carried out to improve data comparability and data quality. Against this background, the ESPON Database project plays a crucial role to maintain, update and expand the previous database resulting from the ESPON 2006 Programme. Hence it will include data from ESPON applied research projects as well as relevant regional data in the field of European territorial development and cohesion. This has significant gains for the policy debate as it provides input for analysis based on territorial indicators and indices. The database will be accessible to the general public and dissemination is envisaged through the ESPON website. [ more ]

IDENT – Identités socio-culturelles et politiques identitaires au Luxembourg
IIDENT is an interdisciplinary project of the IPSE Research Unit and focus on identity construction processes in Luxembourg. On a general level, we wish to deepen the understanding of identity-forming processes and their respective functioning and effects. On a more concrete level, we hope to reveal the interdependencies and inconsistencies between collective and individual identities that are actually ‘lived’ by the Luxembourgish population (appropriated identities) and those that are politically desired and communicated by the media (attributed identities). Luxemburg Atlas / Atlas du Luxembourg
De la ville au pays, le Luxembourg vu par ses cartes – L’ouvrage de référence pour le Grand-Duché.
Luxembourg, à la fois Ville-Etat et Grand-Duché, pays fondateur de l’Union Européenne et centre financier international, présente une histoire et une géographie à la fois riche et originale. À travers une centaine de contributions émanant de plus de 70 auteurs en provenance du monde académique, d’administrations publiques, d’entreprises privées et de la société civile, une large palette de thèmes sont présentés sous la forme de cartes et de photographies, accompagnées de textes en français ou en allemand. Privilégiant un regard original sur l’histoire, l’urbanisme, l’environnement, l’économie, la mobilité, la société et la culture, l’atlas offre un panorama cartographique et thématique inédit du Luxembourg.
