Networks & Partners

Partnership

The research unit LCMI has a wide range of partner institutions and organisations in Europe and abroad. The main research collaborations are with the Goldsmiths College London (UK), Stanford University (USA), University of Berne (CH), Université Nancy 2 (F) and Newcastle University (UK) which are not only orientated towards research but also strongly dedicated to the formation of doctoral students and master students.
Besides these partnerships, the members of LCMI closely cooperate with various other universities and research institutes.
At national level, one of our main partners is the Fonds National de la Recherche (FNR) which supports many different research initiatives within our research unit. The government of Luxembourg appears as a strong partner too, especially the Ministère de l’Education nationale et de la Formation professionnelle as well as the  Service de Coordination de la Recherche et de l’Innovation pédagogiques et téchnologiques (SCRIPT) . Furthermore, many schools in Luxembourg are close partners for our field-research.
The cooperation with business partners ranges from research projects and the development of software to professional development courses.

Philosophy and history of the discipline of education

Philosophy and history of the discipline of education: Faces and spaces of educational research (Host: KU Leuven, Belgium): Reflects from a non-empiristic point of view current issues such as the making of what works/fails, educational networks, styles of reasoning and thinking, educationalization of social problems, educational technologies.

Transnationalization of Higher Education

Transnationalization of Higher Education (Host: Queen's University, Canada) aims to reflect the recent developments in Higher Education in general and teacher training in particular on a transnational comparative way.

Theory of Education

Theory of Education (Host: University of Scotland, Scotland): When education engages with theory, it often does so by borrowing from other disciplines. This not only raises questions about the role of theory in educational research and educational practice, but also about the specific nature of educational theory, as theory of and for education. In our opinion, the field of education would benefit from a more explicit and systematic engagement with these questions.
