Daniel Tröhler
Research topics: analysis of political-educational languages, historical development of education systems and organizations in international perspective, steering elements of public schools (control, teaching materials, curriculum, teacher education) in international comparison, history and historiography of education, political-educational reform discourses in the eighteenth century (USA, England, France, Germany, Switzerland), pragmatism and education ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Before Daniel Tröhler became professor at the Faculty for Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education at the University of Luxembourg in 2008, he has been professor of Education at the Zurich University of Teacher Education and Director of the Pestalozzianum Research Institute for the History of Education from 2002 to 2008. Interested in historical development of educational thoughts, systems and organizations in international perspective, history and historiography of education and analysis of political-educational languages, Daniel Tröhler has made a PhD in Education at the University of Zurich in 1988 and a Degree of Habilitation at the University of Zurich “Venia legendi: Education” in 2002. After having become professor at the FLSHASE, Daniel Tröhler initiated and collaborates in research projects, such as “History of the Luxembourgish school system”. He is member of many research communities and editorial boards in international journals. He was Founding Editor (1995) and editor-in-chief of the Journal "Zeitschrift für pädagogische Historiographie" (1995-2010) and he is Founding Editor of the "Bildungsgeschichte.
