Karin Priem joined the LCMI Research Unit as an associate professor in March 2010. She is mainly engaged in the Secondary teachers’ education. She specializes in General Studies in Education and History of Education. Her current work focuses on cultural aspects of education (Visual and Material History of Education, History of Cultural Practices, Cultural Anthropology). She started her career at Tübingen University (Germany). At Tübingen she finished her dissertation on "Orphanages in the 19th century: A social history" (1995) and as well her habilitation on "The reconstruction of educational theory through biographical sources – The correspondence between Eduard Spranger and his female friends (1903-1924)" (2000). This last project has been funded for three years by a full-time fellowship of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation). Prior to taking up her current post at Luxembourg University she worked as professor at Bonn University (Germany), and at the University of Education in Schwäbisch Gmünd (Germany). She is president of the German History of Education Association, member of the international advisory board of the “Educational Review”, and the “Revue Suisse des sciences de l’éducation”. She is co-editor of the book series “Beiträge zur Historischen Bildungsforschung” (Böhlau, Köln), and of the “Jahrbuch für Historische Bildungsforschung” (Klinkhardt, Bad Heilbrunn)
