Kerstin te Heesen joined the LCMI Research Unit of the University of Luxembourg as a scientific collaborator in March 2011. She received her master degree in Educational Science, German Linguistics and Social Psychology in 2003 and her PhD in Educational Science from the University of Bo-chum/Germany in 2009. From 2009 to 2011 she was a Research Associate at the University of Educa-tion in Schwäbisch Gmünd/Germany, and from 2010 to 2011 she also worked at the University of Augsburg/Germany.
In her doctoral thesis she concentrated on the analysis of illustrated broad-sheets and the relevance of early visual media for didactic purposes.At the University of Luxembourg Kerstin te Heesen is working on a research project in visual history dealing with “The Renewal of the Family: Formative Representations in Portraits and Genre Paintings from the 16th to the 19th Century”. It focuses on epistemic principles and the perception of family and childhood in paintings.
