Research topics: language teacher education, learning and teaching in multilingual contexts, interdisciplinary approaches to learning in secondary education, multilingualism and the role of languages in the process of learning at secondary school level: the development of plurilingualism and the use of mediation between languages, the portfolio as a trans-disciplinary instrument to investigate the process of multilingual learning, multiliteracy and literature education in secondary schools, issues of identity and intercultural elements in literature by writers of Luxembourg origin

Before she became a lecturer at the Faculty for Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education at the University of Luxembourg in 2003 and Coordinator of English teacher education at the University of Luxembourg, Marie-Anne Hansen-Pauly worked as a secondary school teacher of English and French at the Lycée Hubert Clément in Esch-sur-Alzette. Interested in language teacher education, interdisciplinary approaches to learning in secondary education
and the development of plurilingualism and the use of mediation between languages, Marie-Anne Hansen-Pauly is the coordinator of research projects such as the “SOCRATES-COMENIUS project : CLIL (content and language integrated learning) across contexts” and “The plurilingual portfolio : a transdisciplinary tool for discourse analysis in language and literature classes”.
