Stefan Karl Serwe is a researcher and doctoral student at the University of Luxembourg. In 2004 he graduated with a Master’s degree in English Philology from Saarland University in Germany. He is currently pursuing his PhD research in sociolinguistics. Before coming to Luxembourg, Stefan worked in language teaching and research in Singapore at both secondary and tertiary level. From 2007 to 2011 he was the coordinator of the German language programme at the Centre for Modern Languages (CML) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. Stefan's research interests lie primarily in the area of (interactional) sociolinguistics and the analysis of multilingual discourse. Currently, he is particularly interested in exploring the relationship between language use, identity, religion, and occupation.
