Susanne BACKES studied sociology, cultural anthropology, language and German as a foreign language at the University of Trier. In 2011, she graduated with a MA degree in sociology with her thesis about Residential institutions for children in the 1950s and 1960s in Germany and Austria. From 2007 to 2011 she was a tutor of Statistics, lecturer in German and scientific assistant in different applied educational and school projects at the University of Trier. Susanne Backes joined the LCMI Research Unit as a research assistant in October 2011. In her PhD-project she is focusing on Educational inequalities in the Luxembourgish educational system from a comparative perspective.
