Explorative study on NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training): Concept, phenomenon, opportunities and limits of the research on NEET in Luxembourg
Duration:
2011
Description:
NEET means "Not in Education, Employment or Training". The concept has been
brought to a broader public for the first time by the Social Exclusion Unit of the British government
in 1999. Nowadays it has spread and is used internationally, mainly in the English speaking
countries over the world, but also in the European Union and the far east (Japan, Korea). The
project is dedicated to the problematic construction and evolution of the NEET concept and
semantics and the objective is to get an idea of the importance of the phenomenon in Luxembourg
and its relevance in the Luxembourgish social contexts. In the project we try to identify ways of
assessing NEETs in national statistics by working with experts from different concerned fields such
as education and employment.
