Intergenerational Relations in Luxembourg: Solidarity, Ambivalence, Conflict? (INTERGEN)

Description: The project was designed as a cooperative study that combined three leading national
research institutes: the University of Luxembourg, CEPS/INSTEAD and CESIJE asbl. Our research
team focuses on the social construction of intergenerational relations. Emphasis is given to the
nature and dynamics of intergenerational ties especially with respect to underlying social norms,
obligations and commitments. The socio-political importance of intergenerational relations with
respect to the necessity of solidarity between generations will present a further subject of
discussion, as well as models and activities fostering intergenerational relations. The project is
financed by the National Research Fund (Fonds national de la recherche – FNR) .
