Young people in urban space. Analysis of structures, habits and problems of young people
in the Southern region of Luxembourg

Duration: from 2005 to 2007
Description: The research project was carried out by the University of Luxembourg in cooperation
with CESIJE asbl. The project dealt with the description of the specific living conditions and
behaviours of young people in the Southern region of Luxembourg (12 communes being members
of PROSUD). Important aspects of adolescents' lives such as education, leisure time activities,
well-being and political participation as well as particular problems of growing up were part of the
conceptual design.
The data were collected by applying different methodological approaches and the results were
merged to form a comprehensive report that was addressed to the scientific community as well as
to policy-makers and field workers. Furthermore, a variety of local projects within the scope of the
local youth planning emanated from the research activities in the Southern region.
