Campus Art invites you to discover your own creativity, to escape your normal daily life and to get back to your roots.
The art workshops offered by Martine Ahlborn are intended for the entire university community – staff and students.

“Space and sculpture”

Individual research  – Meditative activity  – Technical introduction

  • Learn how to create your own stone sculpture (alabaster, marble, etc.)
    or
  • Discover other sculptor materials: express yourself in clay, paper, plaster, wire or flexible wood profiles.This is a meditative activity based on individual research.
  • The participants will be familiarized with sculpture and modeling. A whole range of art books and some playful approaches will inspire you to choose your topic for reflection.
  • A visit to a sculptor’s studio will take place during this workshop.
  • No prior knowledge is necessary.
  • The course is free and the material is provided.
  • Possibility to join any session.
  • Recommendation: Bring overalls or work clothes

“Pottery and raku firing”

Individual research  – Technical introduction  

Pottery  

  • Learn how to work with clay and explore methods of making your own bowls, plates, pearls, buttons etc. Experience glazes for the electric kiln.

Raku Firing

  • Discover the asian technique of raku firing and get aware of pottery as a product of clay and fire.
  • This partially outdoor activity is offered to you during the sessions 4, 5 and 6 only !
  • The work will be carried out individually or in group. A range of art and crafts books and some playful approaches will inspire you to choose your themes.
  • No prior knowledge is necessary. The course is free and the material is provided.
  • Possibility to join any session.
  • Recommendation: Bring overalls or work clothes

“Color and painting”

Free painting
Experiment - discover - exchange

  • Explore painting techniques or let you inspire in a recreational approach to create your own canvas.
  • Express yourself in figuration or abstraction, try small or large formats, choose your support (paper, wood, silk...) and learn to work with gouache, acrylic or silk paint.
  • A range of art books and other methods of inspiration will help you to choose your topic for reflection.

"Art for architectural spaces" workshop
 Teamwork - "product oriented" - identification

In the “art for architectural or urban spaces” workshops we create aesthetic installations for indoors and outdoors. We thereby contribute to enrich the “University Campus” as a living space and we identify more closely with our work environment.

  • Theme: “Flying canvas” 
    • Join us to create a serie of painted organically shaped flying canvases that will be fixed on the ceiling of a passageway or an inner space of the UL.
    • The work will be carried out individually and in group.
    • No prior knowledge is necessary.

"Nature Art"

Outdoors - Primary authentucuty - Participatory exchanges

  • Join us for excursions in the great outdoors and discover primary gestures and raw materials by creating playful, experimental or conceptual artistic installations from natural elements in nature.$
  • There can be all sorts of subjects, often engendered by the site itself: traces, colours, limits, erosion, the course of the sun, secret garden, etc. Photos, sketches or written notes will complete our efforts.
  • A lecture on Land Art and Nature Art will introduce you to the workshop on Friday 5.00-7.00 pm.
  • Possibility to join any session.
  • The course is free.
  • Recommendation: Bring outdoor clothes and shoes
