Master en droit européen - LL.M. (académique)
ELSA Moot Court Competition
The ELSA Moot Court Competition is a simulated hearing within the Dispute Settlement System of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The external organization behind this competition is the “European Law Students’ Association” (ELSA) which is an international, independent, non-political and non-profit-making organization run by and for students. The EMC² competition aims especially at encouraging further development on the subject matter in the curriculum of academic institutions and at contributing to the ongoing discussions about globalisation in the context of the WTO-Agreements.
This competition takes place annually and consists of three stages, namely one written stage and two oral stages. Through all of its phases the competition is held solely in English.
Firstly, teams of students all over the world prepare written submissions for both complainant and respondent parties to a fictitious case which is set out by a WTO Law expert. Secondly, based on the quality of their written submissions, the teams qualified to the Regional Rounds (RR) represent both parties to the case by arguing their submissions in front of a Panel consisting of acknowledged WTO Law experts.
The selection rounds consist either of a written and an oral round or an international written round (for some countries). The finalists of all selection rounds proceed to the Final Oral Round taking place every year in another country of the world.
