The University of Luxembourg invites applications for the following vacancy in its Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication within the Research Unit in Engineering Science

Professor or Associate Professor of Engineering Science (M/F)

in the area of Statics and Structural Analysis

  • Employee status, full-time

Mission

  • Participate in strengthening the Faculty in research and teaching in the area of Civil Engineering by conducting research on high international level, attracting and supervision PhD and master students, etc. The teaching activities will consist of courses of the different curricula offered, as well as bachelor as on master level.
  • Contribute to the quality of education in civil engineering by giving lessons in theory of structures, structural analysis, technical mechanics, statics of plane load-bearing structures, building dynamics and numerical methods within the Faculty’s Bachelor and the Master programmes.
  • Collaborate extensively with other groups in the Engineering Research Unit with regard to research and education.
  • Take part in the administrative duties of the Research Unit in Engineering Science

Profile

  • PhD in Engineering Science
  • Experience in industry or private institutions in the concerning domain is essential
  • an outstanding research record
  • a proven longtime ability to conduct research
  • a proven ability in teaching at bachelors and masters level
  • five years of postdoctoral experience

The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. It is desired that the successful candidates will have a working knowledge in addition to English in at least one of the following languages: French and German. However, it is also possible to obtain proficiency in a second language after being hired as the University provides access to language classes. A basic knowledge of French has to be acquired during the first two years.
