Borrowing Laptops

What are the conditions for borrowing a laptop?

This service is open to anyone registered with the library (students and staff of the University and external users).

How long can I borrow a laptop for?

Laptops can be borrowed for only one day. The laptop has to be returned at least 15 minutes before the library closes.

A laptop cannot be reserved and it is not possible to renew it; you have to borrow it again.

Where can I borrow and return my laptop?

Laptops are available to borrow from the machine located on the ground floor in the Learning Centre, behind the lifts.

To return the laptop, you have to bring it back to the machine. The locker where the laptop needs to be returned will flash. Open the door and return the laptop. Remember to attach the charging lead to the laptop – if not, the laptop will stay on your library borrowing record.

What are the penalties if a laptop is returned late?

If a user is late in returning a laptop borrowed from the library, his or her borrowing privileges will be suspended for a period equivalent to the number of days late.

What is the procedure if a laptop is damaged or lost?

If the laptop is overdue, lost, stolen or damaged, financial and/or administrative sanctions will be imposed.

Can I use the laptop outside the library?

Laptops can be taken outside the library. The library will provide a carry case, a charger and an anti-theft device, available at the welcome desk.
