The University of Luxembourg has updated its guidance and recommendations to prevent the Covid-19 disease.

Risk zones

  • The list of risk zones is extended to the entire country of Italy; the regions of Oise and Haut-Rhin (France) and the regions of North Rhine-Westphalia and Baden-Württemberg (Germany);
  • The entire list of risk zones identified by the Luxembourg health authorities can be consulted on the website of the government;
  • The University of Luxembourg strongly discourages trips to all risk zones.

Visits/Interviews

  • Organisers of events at the university should suggest to  visitors from risk areas mentioned above to postpone their trip to the University of Luxembourg, or if feasible, participate via Skype or Webex;
  • The University strongly recommends to replace all face-to-face interviews for recruitment or other purposes with persons incoming from a risk zone by Skype or Webex interviews;
  • The University also recommends to hold all interviews with candidates from all non-risk regions via Skype or Webex for the next two weeks at least, as a precautionary measure.

Events

  • The Ministry of Health recommends to cancel or defer events that bring together more than 1,000 people simultaneously in a confined environment. The University, following the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, has therefore decided to cancel the Open Day on 21 March 2020 and replace it with a virtual event.
  • When in doubt about the risk potential inherent in an event under planning, please use the risk assessment tool provided by the Luxembourg Health Ministry.

PhD Defences

  • It is recommended not to cancel any planned defence at this time. In case of questions, please contact phdstudies@uni.lu

New dedicated webpage

  • We have reconfigured all Covid-19 related information and updates of the University in a new section of the University webpage, under www.uni.lu/Coronavirus

Think ahead

  • All colleagues who are working with a laptop are kindly reminded to take the laptop home with them at night.
  • Staff members who might have to work from home or stay at home (for cross border commuters within the legal limits in place for remote work in F / B / D) for instance because their children’s school has been closed down, should contact their line manager to discuss possible options.

Safety measures

Precautionary measures

  1. Wash your hands regularly and properly.
  2. Cough or sneeze in a tissue or in the crease of the elbow. Throw the tissue in a bin with a lid.
  3. Avoid shaking hands or kissing.
  4. Avoid close contact with sick people (keep a distance of at least 2 meters).
  5. Stay home if you are sick. Don't go to work!
  6. Avoid touching your face with your hands as much as possible.

Further guidance can be found on the website of the Luxembourg Ministry of Health.
