The University of Luxembourg scored second in international outlook and 193rd overall in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education World University Ranking.

Published on 30 September, the ranking features 800 universities from around the world, with the University of Luxembourg featured for the first time, making its debut in 193rd place overall. This put the University on par with Texas A&M University, sandwiched between Ulm University (192) and the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (195), both in Germany.

Scores are compiled using 13 indicators across five categories, including teaching, research, industry income, citations and international outlook.

Especially in the latter two the University of Luxembourg performed outstandingly, ranked in the top 20 per cent for citations, with citations from 23,000 journals published between 2010 and 2015 taken into consideration.

Additionally, the University came second for international outlook, which assesses the number of international students and staff but also the amount of international collaboration in publications.

The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance counts students from 86 different nationalities and teaching staff from 18 different countries. We have cooperation agreements with universities in 13 countries worldwide, including the US, Canada, China, Russia, India, Mali and a number of institutions in Europe. Faculty students can also take advantage of an extensive network of Erasmus agreements.

With a new academic year just beginning, we are looking forward to strengthening our academic record and international ties and thank all our students and staff for helping the University of Luxembourg achieve this great result.

The University of Luxembourg is now looking forward with anticipation to the Times Higher Education 100 Under 50 Ranking to be published in spring 2016.
