Dr. Andreas Irmen is Professor of Macroeconomics and Applied Microeconomics at the University of Luxembourg (since September 2010). Previously, he was Professor of Economics (Chair of Economic Policy - Macroeconomics) at the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg (2006 - 2010), Germany, Professor of Economics at the Free University of Bolzano (2005 - 2006), Italy, and Assistant Professor at the University of Mannheim, Germany. He is affiliated with the Center for Economic Studies (CESifo), Munich. Andreas Irmen received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Lausanne, Switzerland. He held the position of a Visiting Professor at the Department of Economics of Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island, USA (2018), at the Paris School of Economics, Paris, France (2017), and at ESCEM, School of Business and Management, Poitiers, France (2003 and 2004), and at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand (2000). He was visiting scholar at the Department of Economics of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA, in 2008, at the Department of Economics, Harvard University (2001 - 2002), Cambridge, USA, and at the Carl Melchior Minerva Center for Macroeconomics and Growth, Hebrew University (2000), Jerusalem, Israel. His areas of research include Economic Growth, the Economics of Innovation, Digitization and Automation, Population Economics, and Public Economics. A particular focus is on the Economics of Economic Growth. Andreas Irmen has published widely in top academic journals such as the Journal of Economic Theory, the International Economic Review, the Journal of Economic Dynamics & Control, the European Economic Review, Regional Science and Urban Economics, and the Harvard Business Review.
