Advanzia Bank, a Luxembourg-based digital bank founded in 2005 providing credit cards and payment solutions to individuals, businesses and financial institutions, has partnered with the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance to award one deserving and promising student within the MSc in Finance and Economics with a fellowship for the duration of their studies.

The fellowship includes a monthly stipend, an internship opportunity and the possibility to work at Advanzia Bank during the summer. The first student to be selected for the fellowship is Belgian student Viktoria Pervukhina. Viktoria completed her Bachelor at the University of Luxembourg and is now pursuing a Master’s degree. Afterward, Viktoria would like to obtain her PhD and become a specialist in the field of risk management.

For Viktoria, the fellowship represents an opportunity to acquire practical skills in a professional environment. “The fellowship with Advanzia Bank will help me gain knowledge in my chosen field and meet professionals from the sector. Additionally, it will also provide me with exceptional first-hand experience that will ultimately put me a step closer to reaching my career aspirations,” she explains.

Frank Hamen, Chief Risk Officer at Advanzia Bank and mentor for students within the Department of Finance, comments: “This fellowship marks the beginning of a close cooperation between Advanzia Bank and the University of Luxembourg. Especially here in the Luxembourg financial centre, academic-business collaboration offers great potential, and we look forward to strengthening this important exchange by supporting young talent in their professional development.”

Headed by Prof. Jean-Daniel Guigou, the MSc in Finance and Economics is a two-year degree developed together with the Luxembourg financial centre and which prepares students practically and academically for careers in banking, consultancy, asset management, insurance and financial institutions, among others.

Advanzia Bank plans to continue to offer the fellowship opportunity every two years to one student within the MSc in Finance and Economics with an excellent academic record.
