Melvin Drent, doctoral researcher at the Luxembourg Center for Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LCL), presented his paper remotely alongside four other finalists to members of the International Society for Inventory Research (ISIR) and judges on 25 August 2020.

Co-authored by Professor Joachim Arts, Drent’s winning paper entitled “Effective Dual-Sourcing through Inventory Projection” studies how supply chains with both local and off-shore suppliers should be coordinated. Such supply chains are becoming more common as supply chains diversify their supply base to enhance resilience and cut CO2 emissions associated with off-shore production.

The ISIR Best Student Paper Award Committee determined the winner based on the paper’s contribution to the advancement of theory and practice of Inventory Research.

Congratulations on your achievement Melvin!
