The kick off meeting of the FNR CORE research project “Criminal Proceedings and the Use of AI: Challenges for Common Criminal Procedure Principles and the Principles of the Rule of Law” or CRIM_AI took place on 2-3 May 2022 in Luxembourg.

Members of the Interdisciplinary Expert Group gathered to discuss the objectives of the project which aims to study AI’s impact on adjudication and to identify what problems it poses, its methodology and possible challenges during its implementation on national and international levels. During the meeting, Professor Katalin Ligeti, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance and principal investigator of the project, presented her background study about the Artificial Intelligence used in the context of adjudication, its potential benefits and drawbacks.

The meeting gave the opportunity to the team members, based throughout Europe, to lay strong foundations for a successful cooperation within the project.
