The Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) Prof. Katalin Ligeti and the Director of the Research Unit in Law (RUL) Prof. Elise Poillot recently took part in an official delegation to China, led by the Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Félix Braz.

“It was a pleasure and a privilege to join the Luxembourg delegation and take part in the creation of new exchanges, while reinforcing our outstanding cooperation with Chinese partners,” Dean Prof. Ligeti said.

The University of Luxembourg, including FDEF, has current partnerships with the following Chinese universities:

For the occasion, the faculty’s two senior officials joined representatives from the Luxembourg Ministry of Justice, the Deputy General Prosecutor and the former President of the Luxembourg Bar Association to participate in several meetings and visits at Peking University, Beijing Internet Court, as well as Fudan University and the Shanghai International Arbitration Centre.

During the visit, Luxembourg and Chinese authorities showed a mutual interest to position the Grand Duchy as an international arbitration platform in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), a global strategy led by the Chinese government seeking to build trade and infrastructure networks between Asia, Europe and Africa along the ancient Silk Road trade routes.
