An exercise in student deliberative democracy.

In the framework of the Conference on the Future of Europe (https://futureu.europa.eu/), in partnership with the European Parliament and with the support of the rectorate of our university, a citizen consultation will be organised and composed of 100 Master students of the University of Luxembourg. It will take place on Saturday, December 11 and 18, 2021. The students will address, accompanied by experts, 4 of the 8 themes of the said Convention:

  1. A stronger economy, social justice and jobs;
  2. Climate change and environment;
  3. Values and rights, rule of law, security;
  4. Migration.

 In this perspective, we would like that you invite your students to become volunteer for this sole exercise of deliberative democracy on the future of the European Union. Interested students can apply until Friday, October 1, 2021 via the Parliamentary Studies Research Chair email, demos@uni.lu.

The panels will take place on the campus of the University of Luxembourg at the Maison du Savoir and/or in the Maison des Sciences humaines. The languages of the debates will be: German, English and French. Students should indicate the languages they speak at the time of registration, their field of study, their gender and their nationality.

The results will be presented on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at the Secretariat General of the European Parliament in Luxembourg in the presence of the members of the Conference for the future of Europe (national and European MPs).
