2017 ODSD Edition

How can businesses, with the support of institutions, incorporate sustainable development goals (SDGs) and become the protagonists of a new economy model?
This was the focus of the third edition of the October Days for Sustainable Development organized by MARS and the EIB Institute with the support of other partners and dedicated this year to ‘Business and SDGs’.

Small and big pioneers, from local and international business sector, came to share their best practices and engage in a stimulating dialogue with institutions’ and academic’s representatives on how to effectively march forward and contribute to the Agenda 2030:

  • How to embark on a path that is sustainable and coherent with the 17 Goals and at the same time economically profitable?
  • What kind of effort need to be made, not just from the financial and organizational perspective, but also ethical and motivational?
  • What support can come from the governance system (institutions, banks, regulatory system, counseling bodies) in fostering awarness and capacity development?
  • Which best practices have already been put in place by local and global companies and can shed some light on this radical transformative process towards the SDGs?

These are some of the questions that have been at the center of the ODSD 2017, which this year for the first time was part of a more large mobilization involving civil society in Luxembourg, the 'Semaine de l'Education et de le Developpement Durable'.
