Bachelor of Science in Psychology

Psychology students receive the Student Initiative Award 2021 of the University of Luxembourg

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology is very proud to announce that the theatre project BelvalExpress Theater – founded by a group of psychology students –  was awarded the Student Initiative Award 2021 of the University of Luxembourg.
Driven by their desire to make an active contribution to the student life on Campus Belval, the students created and  performed in winter semester 2019 their first play, which testified to their high degree of ingenuity and personal commitment.
For their second play in summer semester 2021 they used the videoconferencing software, they have become very familiar with during the pandemic related remote teaching conditions. They artistically transformed the use of this software into the space of their performance, letting audience and actors meet and engage in the same virtual space.
In terms of subject matter and content of their plays, the students refer to important psychological and socio-political issues. They are inclusive in their approach: Even though initiated by psychology students, the theatre group is open to all students at the University of Luxembourg and English is the language of the performances.
We congratulate the students of the BelvalExpress Theater for the well-deserved award and look forward to their next play "Mirrored, Reflected and Reversed", which will be performed in December 2021.

Study programme

> Course languages: German/French/English

The Bachelor of Science in Psychology follows the recommendations of the German Society for Psychology (DGPs) and was, in 2017, one of the first Bachelor's degree programmes in psychology to receive the quality label ofthe DGPs.

The accreditation institute Acquin has stated after an assessment in 2021  that the Bachelor of Science in Psychology fully meets the standards and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG 2015).

What is psychology?

Psychology as a science is concerned with human behaviour, experience, and consciousness. It explores individual development throughout the lifespan as well as their inner and outer causes and conditions. Its objective is a better understanding of the human being. The preoccupation with scientific methods and results in the Bachelor en Psychologie constitutes the fundamental qualification for the later professional activity within the field of psychology.
