From 2 to 6 November high school students from around the world experienced what it feels like to be a student at the University of Luxembourg during the “Université à l’Essai” (Test University).

High school students had the opportunity to participate in first-year Bachelor courses from the University’s three faculties, including computer science, educational sciences, history, law, mathematics and philosophy. All courses were offered online this year due to the current health situation.

More than 450 high school students participated this year, with more than 1,200 course registrations, marking a significant increase in numbers compared to 2019.

Most popular were courses in psychology (182 registrations), followed by management (142), law (139) and economics (105).

The largest number of participants is from Luxembourg (290), followed by Belgium (64), France (47) and Germany (13). Traditionally, the event is hosted in-person on Belval Campus, attracting students from Luxembourg and the Greater Region (France, Germany and Belgium). This year, the event’s virtual character reached students far beyond the Greater Region, counting registrations from Argentina, Austria, Ivory Coast and Serbia for example.

Université à l’Essai” gives students a first impression of studying at the University of Luxembourg and may help decide on a subject or simply prepare for the new learning environment after graduating from high school.

Lara Mesquita, a Luxembourgish high school student participated in three courses: English studies, psychology and educational sciences. “Université à l’Essai is a very good experience. It helped me to have a more accurate idea of what I want to do next year, and it is a wonderful opportunity that the University offers us.”
