OUTGOING students

You are a student at the University of Luxembourg:

A characteristic of the University of Luxembourg is that study mobility is compulsory in Bachelor.

The University of Luxembourg subscribes to the principle of international student mobility pursuant to the Bologna agreements (1999).

The Act of 12 August 2003 on the creation of the University of Luxembourg implements this principle in the following terms: “A bachelor’s degree may be conferred only if a student enrolled in the University has attended, for a required period, another university or any other institution of higher education abroad.” 

Mobility is a real winning asset for students. By living and studying abroad and coming into contact with another academic culture, students are inevitably put in a situation that enables them to question and assess their personal choices, ways of thinking and of approaching their studies.
Students who wish to study abroad must enrol at least 30 ECTS. The ECTS earned abroad are recognized by the course director on the basis of the previously signed learning agreement.

You have 3 choices depending on what you want to do:

• Erasmus+
• Free mover
• Global Exchange programme

It is also possible to do an internship abroad under the Erasmus+ programme but it will not be taken into account as mandatory mobility.

La dispense de l'obligation de mobilité

Dans certains cas des dispenses peuvent être accordées. Les différents cas sont listés ci-dessous (sous réserve de modifications). La dispense n’est pas automatique, il faut en faire la demande au plus tôt auprès de la personne de contact pour la mobilité au sein de votre faculté avec les justificatifs requis selon votre cas : Faculté des Sciences, des Technologies et de Médecine : Elizabeth Adu Twumwaa Faculté de Droit, d’Économie et de Finance : Stephanie Anderson Faculté des Sciences Humaines, des Sciences de l’Éducation et des Sciences Sociales​ : BAderogation-fhse@uni.lu Selon l’article 27, paragraphe 1, du RE, une dispense à l’obligation de mobilité des étudiants peut être accordée par le recteur, sur avis du directeur de programme, pour les étudiants qui :  ont obtenu un diplôme sanctionnant au moins quatre semestres de formation universitaire auprès d'une institution d'enseignement supérieur à l’étranger, reconnue par l'autorité compétente de l'Etat concerné ; ont obtenu au moins (30) crédits ECTS ou leur équivalent, auprès d'une institution d'enseignement supérieur à l’étranger, reconnue par l'autorité compétente de l'Etat concerné, validés par la procédure telle que stipulée à l'article 33, paragraphe 2, de la Loi ; souffrent d’une maladie nécessitant un traitement spécifique ou se trouvent en situation de handicap de nature à réduire sensiblement leur mobilité ;  ont des obligations familiales qui les empêchent de s’absenter du foyer familial durant une période prolongée ; sont issus d’un pays tiers et peuvent attester d’un diplôme de fin d'études secondaires délivré dans un pays tiers
