General Mathematics Seminar

 

The General Mathematics Seminar is a central joint event of the Department of Mathematics (DMATH) of the University of Luxembourg. It aims at contributing to exchanges between all the groups of DMATH through the organisation of various talks by external mathematicians, focusing on trends and results of global interest for DMATH and researchers from closely related fields. In particular, this seminar is directed towards a large audience, including Ph.D. students, post-doctoral researchers and professors. In the established international atmosphere of DMATH, it promotes a dynamic that is meant to strongly stimulate joint research efforts between algebra, number theory, geometry, the mathematical theory of quantisation, harmonic analysis, probability theory and mathematical modelling.

The seminar sessions usually take place on Tuesday. The schedule is as follows:

- 3:40 pm – 4:00 pm: A general coffee break is offered to the members of the Department of Mathematics and to their guests in the open space for coffee and discussions on the sixth floor of the MNO building (Campus Belval);

- 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm: All the members of DMATH and all persons interested on the topic, are cordially invited to attend the talk of the speaker, which includes a short questions session. This usually takes place on the first floor of MNO, Campus Belval.
