Renan Lima Baima holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the State University of Campinas (Brazil) and is a Control and Automation Engineer grated by the University of the State of Amazonas (Brazil). His research field centers on Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Reinforcement Learning, Cognitive Robotics, Object Affordance Recognition, Ontology, Agent-Based Systems, and Multi-Robotic Interaction.

During Renan's graduation, he was granted a one-year exchange program scholarship at the University of Stuttgart, where he did his Bachelor's Thesis at the Institut für Automatisierungs Softwaretechnik (IAS). This work stems from a cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA) in developing an ontological knowledge base program for software testing in the aviation and aerospace industry with a software-based agent for ESA's software test department.

During his master's thesis, he developed an incremental framework to target cognitive autonomous robotic agents to learn how to achieve many object affordances by interacting with objects with its multimodal multi-fingered grippers. Embedding this knowledge in robots is essential for developing intelligent and genuinely autonomous agents. The work results suggest that an abstraction of movements, based on learning incremental affordances, may have been achieved.

Renan led a start-up from an idea to a product until it got evaluated at more than U$D 500,000. During this ten-year journey, he toiled from Developer to Project Manager, CCO, to the CEO position. With such an opportunity, Renan got accelerated internationally in Texas and Rio de Janeiro, holds experience submitting three different patents, was awarded the Santander Universities Award, Category Science and Innovation national innovation award, and was recognized by the 2017 International Sports Technology Award in London as one of the top 6 best devices in sports wearables globally.

Beginning of 2022, Renan joined the University of Luxembourg as Doctoral Researcher as part of the FINATRAX research group. He is developing an architecture framework that allows information exchange for space multi-robotic systems collaboration. The development is supported by the FiReSpARX project, which aims to build space robots that follow given governance (RegTech) and make autonomous economic decisions (FinTech) to create a collaborative multi-robotic system (MRS). This knowledge sharing, fundamental for an efficient market, allows machines to negotiate resources, robots' time, and infrastructure without necessarily exposing private information and at the same time complying with international data regulatory laws. Renan joined the Digital Financial Services and Cross-Organizational Digital Transformations research group, FINATRAX, headed by Prof. Gilbert Fridgen, his advisor, with the co-advisory of Prof. Miguel Olivares.
