The admissions essay plays an important role in your application. It is your chance to tell us why you want to enrol in our programme, and it will help us to assess whether it is suitable for you. Writing this essay should also help you to decide whether you want to study English Literature and Linguistics in combination with European Cultures, and why.

In our admissions process, we try to evaluate how well applicants will fit into our programme and whether they will be able to deal with the combination of highly specialised field-specific and interdisciplinary approaches. To help us in our assessment of your application, we need a letter of recommendation from a teacher who knows you and your work well (your referee). 

Once you have found a referee and they have agreed to write a letter of recommendation for you, please feel free to forward them the guidelines below:

Important practical information: If your teacher decides to send us his/her reference letter via e-mail, you need to upload a document stating this information during your online application on the portal. If possible, please include your referee’s name and email address. Otherwise you will not be able to submit your application.
