Master in European Contemporary History

Application requirements

The master's programme is open to students with a good Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (at least three years of higher education in accordance with the Bologna prerequisites) in history. Students from related disciplines such as geography, sociology, anthropology, political sciences, economic, literary studies etc. are encouraged to apply.

The Bachelor's degree is mandatory for admission. However, you can apply during the last semester of your Bachelor, before your final results.

Main criteria for selection

  • Proven interest in high level academic research.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English and French: a C1 level is required in both languages (English and French). Knowledge of German too is considered an advantage.
  • Practical experience in international/European research contexts (e.g. internships, BA theses) will be considered an advantage.

How to apply

Admission is limited to 25 students per year. The application dossier should include a CV, a motivation letter, diploma/degree certificates, transcripts of records,language certificates and other documents applicants consider useful (e.g. internship reports..).

Application to the Master in European Contemporary History should be made online.

  • Online application UE: from 01 February 2023 to 15 July 2023
