Financial assistance from the Ministry of Higher Education and Research is granted through the MengStudien financial aid to all students who are enrolled for higher studies and fulfil one of the following conditions: they have the Luxembourgish nationality or are family members of a citizen of Luxembourg and reside in Luxembourg; they are nationals of a member state of the European Union, of the European Economic Area or of the Swiss Confederation and reside in Luxembourg as salaried worker or self-employed worker, as a person continuing to have this status or as a family member of one of the above-mentioned categories of residents, or have the status of permanent resident; they are third-country nationals or stateless, have resided in Luxembourg for at least 5 years and hold a secondary school leaving certificate recognized by the Luxembourg Ministry of Education (Ministère de l’Education nationale et de la Formation professionnelle); they have the status of a political refugee in Luxembourg and reside in Luxembourg; they are children of a citizen of Luxembourg, a national of a member state of the European Union, of the European Economic Area or the Swiss Confederation working or carrying on his/her profession in Luxembourg for an uninterrupted period of at least 5 years and for at least 50% of the legal or contractual number of working hours. This financial assistance from the government consists in principle of a loan and a scholarship at 2% fixed rate. It amounts to 13.000€ per academic year. It cannot be combined with possible financial aid obtained in the student's country of residence. In addition, enrollment fees up to a maximum amount of 3.700€ per academic year can be included. If you are a bachelor student doing a study semester at an institution beyond the Great-Region as a non-Erasmus student, you are eligible for a grant from the Mobility fund. |
Scholarship for incoming and regular students
Guillaume Dupaix International Scholarship |
The Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research are funding a talent support programme. The Guillaume Dupaix International Master’s Scholarship aims to attract high-achieving international students who wish to follow a master’s programme at the University of Luxembourg, or international exchange students who wish to pursue one or two semester of studies at the University of Luxembourg. Eligible programmesThis scholarship is offered to students from all study programmes opened to exchange students within the agreement between their institution and the University of Luxembourg. Master candidates can visit the webpages of each faculty to learn about eligible Master programmes:
Financial supportThe stipend amounts to 5.146€ per semester and is paid in two instalments per academic year at the beginning of each semester for a maximum of two years (two semesters for exchange students). Payment is subject to performance evaluation and may be withheld, for example, in the case of academic misconduct, poor results or withdrawal from the master's programme. Tuition fees are not included in the scholarship for regular Master students, exchange students are exempted from tuition fees at the University of Luxembourg. The scholarship cannot be cumulated with any other type of grant financed by the Luxembourg government, or a similar scholarship funded by a private sponsors. Outstanding applicants may also be selected before the application deadline.
