Internships
The Scienteens Lab offers short internships (one or two weeks) intended for highly motivated high-school students. Depending on the duration of the internship, availabilities of researchers and the interests of the high-school students, these internships can either focus on research, science communication or both. Internships focusing on scientific research are organised by the Scienteens Lab team in collaboration with research groups from the University of Luxembourg. They allow students to discover the inner workings of a lab, to meet experienced researchers and to learn more about the type of work they do. Internships focusing on science communication allow students to discover different aspect of the daily life of a science communicator: from developing a scientific outreach activity for a specific audience to writing for diverse communication materials. |

Internships are available in three disciplines: biology, mathematics and physics.
If you are interested, please follow the procedure detailed below for each discipline:
Mathematics
The internships in mathematics are done in collaboration with research groups from the Department of Mathematics (DMATH) of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine. They can be conducted in English, French or German.
Interested in an internship? Send your CV and letter of motivation to Dr Thierry Meyrath.Biology
The internships in biology are done in collaboration with research groups from the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) and from the Department of Life Science and Medicine (DLSM) of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine. These internships are dedicated to high-school students aged 15 and over. They can be conducted in English or German.
Interested in an internship? Send your CV and letter of motivation to Dr Maren Krüger.Easter workshop on cancer research – 11 to 14 April 2023
4-day internship focusing on cancer research and including 3 workshops (DNA on the tanning bed, Discovering cancer research - Part 1 & 2) as well as scientific presentations. The activities will be conducted in English. 3 places are available for students between 15 and 18 years old.
To apply, contact Dr Maren Krüger.
Physics
The internships in physics are done in collaboration with research groups from the Department of Physics and Material Science (DPhyMS) of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine. They are organised at specific times during school holidays and are only conducted in English.
Interested in an internship? Check out the internships offered in 2023 (see below) and specify one or several internships you are interested in. If you apply for multiple internships, please indicate your order of preference.
Then send your CV, transcript of your grades and letter of motivation – detailing why you are interested in physics or materials science and explaining your choice of internship – at the following address scienteens.physics[AT]uni.lu.A taste of research in experimental and theoretical physics – 31 July to 4 August 2023
