Research Group Neuroinflammation

The interplay between inflammation and
neurodegeneration

The Neuroinflammation group is involved in fundamental and translational research with focus on neurodegeneration and neuroinflammation.

A glimpse into our research

The group is looking at neurodegenerative diseases through the lens of immune mechanisms in the central nervous system with the goal of developing new biomarkers and medical intervention programs.
One of the foci of the group is the role of tunnelling nanotubes – dynamic connections between cells – for cell-to-cell communication. The second foci is to explore how immune cells regulate neuronal functions by using two-photon imaging and looking at the entire brain in living animal models.
