Laboratory Safety

The Laboratory Safety team supports the LCSB and its researchers with expertise in lab (bio-)safety topics related to life sciences. The team works in collaboration with the lab workers, the central services, the instrument-care team, the infrastructure team, the logistics… all the involved stakeholders to contribute to the development of a safety culture.

The team provides measures and solutions to ensure a safe environment within the laboratories. To achieve its mission, the team assesses safety risks of existing situations or new projects and it identifies and prioritizes preventive and corrective actions to improve safety. This team   manages the appropriate protective equipment and the material related to safety, and it develops the Emergency Response Plan.

It prepares and organizes the safety trainings and manages the restricted accesses for laboratories areas. Moreover, the laboratory safety team supports the SSO (central services) for the legal compliance related to Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) regulations.
