Ask a Librarian FAQ
The "Ask a librarian" service offered by the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC) enables you to communicate with the LLC librarians to get answers to your questions about the library, its services and its collections.
When can you ask a question? When will you get a response?
The e-mail address askalibrarian@uni.lu is available anytime – you can ask your questions whenever it is convenient for you.
- The LLC staff monitors the e-mails from Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 17.00 (only on days when the library is open).
- We commit to providing a response within 3 working days.
- The response time depends upon the type of question – some questions require more in-depth research than others.
What questions are answered and what questions are not answered?
We reply to* :
- questions about the LLC, its services and its collections;
- help locating a document;
- requests for assistance in documentary research;
- requests for timely and factual information.
We don’t reply to :
- requests for specialised consultation, such as medical, legal or genealogical searches;
- requests for the construction of exhaustive bibliographies;
- requests for the provision of documents. For example, we will not fax, scan or photocopy documents and send them to you.
We may, if required, transfer your question to a more appropriate service. In this case, we will inform you of that fact.
*(assuming the LLC has the documentary resources with which to locate the answer)
How do we formulate our answers?
- The information is provided using a methodological and educational approach.
- We will provide you with the sources used.
- Bibliographic records extracted from databases to which access is provided through our subscriptions as well as other references provided will be limited to a maximum of 10.
