Dictionaries & Encyclopaedias

In brief

Overview

The print and electronic collections contain many reference resources.
General encyclopaedias are reference works that provide clear and concise information on general or specialised subjects. The articles focus on major themes and are usually written by experts in the field.
The LLC has a wide range of language dictionaries (general, bilingual, dictionaries of synonyms and antonyms).
Specialised dictionaries and encyclopaedias can be found directly in the relevant subject guides.
All of these publications are listed in www.a-z.lu, the catalogue of the Luxembourg library network.

Dictionaries are located in the linguistics section on floor -2 of the Luxembourg Learning Centre (LLC).
Older publications can be found in The Stacks on floor -2.

Some dictionaries can be borrowed (short loan for 2 weeks, can be renewed).
Publications that are marked by a red sticker are only available for on-site consultation.
