Databases - The core of scientific information research
The database is one of the essential reference databases for specialized literature in the area of Education and produced by the German Institute for International Educational Research (Deutsches Institut für Pädagogische Forschung - DIPF). It mainly refers to educational research and training, but it also addresses educational practice (School, special educational needs, etc.). It contains references from journals and collective works, books, reviews, grey literature and online resources. The main focus lies in journals from the German-speaking area - reporting period: from 1980. Quarterly updates, open online access. |

The database ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) contains references with abstracts from all areas of education and is openly accessible online. It records articles from journals, monographs, conference reports, dissertations, as well as research reports. Sociological Abstracts (Access via SocINDEX with Full Text) |
Sociological Abstracts is the most comprehensive and highest quality sociology research database. It documents international literature in the field as well as publications relevant to sociology from related subject areas. It includes references from journal articles, congress reports and a selection of monographs and dissertations mainly form the Anglo-American area. |
Citation information
The most popular citation database is the Web of Science. This portal gives access to several multidisciplinary citation databases. You find core journals on Educational Sciences evaluated in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI). The focus of the SSCI lies on the evaluation of periodicals from the Anglo-American area.
Full-text databases and journals archives
The EBSCO database is the largest full-text database on educational sciences in the world. The database evaluates journals and gives full-text access. The database covers all levels of Educational Sciences, from early childhood to higher education. It also includes literature related to specialized areas of Educational Sciences, such as multilingual education, health education, and curriculum design. |

JSTOR is the most popular journal's archive. There are references from up to 240 journal articles in the field of Educational Sciences. JSTOR operates with a so-called moving wall, which forbids access to recent years of publication over a defined period (between three and five years). |
Statistics
The library of the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) allows access to all OECD studies (since 1998) and statistics (since 1960). The education section includes online publications, e-books, and statistics on all aspects of education in OECD countries: education & economics, education policy, educational research, literacy, adult education in different countries and on OECD level. The yearly report “Education at a glance,” which contains fundamental data on education systems in OECD countries is of interest, as well as the publication of the PISA study. |

Reference works; The International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS) is an essential online resource for social science and interdisciplinary research. IBSS includes over two million bibliographic references to journal articles and books, reviews and selected chapters dating back to 1951. It is unique in its broad coverage of international material and incorporates over 100 languages and countries. Over 2,800 journals are regularly indexed, and some 7,000 books included each year. |

It offers a quick, structured and uniform access to scientific full-text journals. Developed by the University of Regensburg. Search for journals in French. The portal Cairn.info supported by the Centre national du livre and the National Library of France currently holds around 200 journals in the area of Humanities and Social Sciences from over 40 publishers. |
